Mahalapye District Council's (MDC) meet and greet

The Mahalapye District Council's (MDC) leadership paid a visit to the Letlole La Rona Limited (LLR) offices to acknowledge and appreciate LLR for their significant contributions to the Otse RADS hostel and its pupils. The courtesy call made by Hon. Banthasetse Merementsi, the Chairperson of the Council, Acting Council Secretary Mrs. Gomolemo Moepeng and Public Relations Officer Mr. Goratileone Kgwadu. This was a great way to express gratitude and strengthen the collaboration between the two entities. In July 2021, LLR Management committed to adopting the Otse Hostel which is managed by the MDC.

The facility currently lodges a total of 87 children with ages ranging from 6 – 14 but it however has a capacity to host 265, both boys and girls. The facility aims to house and facilitate schooling children from the underprivileged settlements in the area, mainly those whose parents work in the Sandveld Farms. The children, all of whom are of primary school going age, are under the care of the MDC, which provides basic needs such as food, clothing, and shelter. It currently has a staff complement of 14 (4 administration staff, 4 kitchen staff and 6 caretakers).

LLR has to date supported the hostel by donating washing machines, blankets for the pupils, computer lab and winter clothes, host a Christmas party and Prize Giving ceremony for the students and their caretakers. LLR also donated a printer to Setlhomo Primary School where the pupils are students.

Overall, the collaboration between LLR and the MDC exemplifies the positive effects that public-private partnerships can have on education and community development. The commitment from both sides to uplift the pupils and provide them with a conducive environment for learning is a positive step towards progress. MDC appreciates and honors LLR for the support.
